A new sports hall was built on the Biotechnical & Sports campus of the Broeder Schools in Sint-Niklaas, along with associated facilities and two lab classrooms. The sports hall, detached planted in the green surroundings, is designed to act as an eye-catcher and face of the Agricultural School, with a harmonious integration into the landscape.
The construction of the sports hall and ancillary buildings emphasizes stability and durability. The sports hall itself has a main volume with a span of 20 by 30 meters and a useful height of 6 meters under the trusses, supported by a robust support structure. This structure guarantees not only the stability of the building, but also flexibility for intensive use.
Building technologies play a key role in the project. Advanced ventilation and air conditioning systems provide a comfortable indoor climate in the sports hall and labs, while energy efficiency is achieved through high-quality insulation and sustainable materials. The laboratories are equipped with specific facilities such as chemical storage areas and preparatory work areas, which meet strict safety and quality standards.
Additional spaces, including locker rooms, a hall of mirrors and a multi-purpose sports room, add to the building’s multifunctionality. Designed to best support both the education and athletic activities of the students, the whole building fits seamlessly with the modern vision of the school.
