A new nursery, Klein & Wijs, and a Center for Ambulatory Rehabilitation have been realized at the Sint-Lievenspoort care site in Ghent. The project was carried out in two phases to allow care activities to continue uninterrupted during the construction works.
Phase one included construction of the day care center, including an underground parking garage. Phase two included the construction of the rehabilitation center, which offers therapies for various conditions such as hearing problems, autism spectrum disorders, and learning disabilities.
This project focused on modern building technologies, designed by De Klerck Engineering and implemented by Artes. Advanced HVAC systems provide an energy-efficient and comfortable indoor climate, tailored to the specific care needs of the users. Sanitary facilities were designed for optimal hygiene and durability. Special attention was also paid to energy efficiency, insulation and integration of techniques within the architecture.
The successful combination of innovative building techniques and careful phasing makes this project an example of how contemporary infrastructure can support and enhance the healthcare industry.
