In collaboration with M4 Architects and Ibens, we realized the new construction of Basisschool De Ark and Middelbare School Da Vinci in Sint-Niklaas. This educational institution offers a continuous learning route from 2.5 to 18 years, with a focus on Freinet pedagogy.
The new building includes modern classrooms, a refectory with associated kitchen, and administrative areas. A special feature is the integration of the existing green environment, with the site largely preserved and the buildings concentrated. Administrative and functional services are organized centrally, contributing to the efficient operation of the school.
In terms of techniques, a sustainable and energy-efficient approach was chosen. The school uses an advanced ventilation system with heat recovery, which ensures a healthy indoor climate and low energy consumption. Attention was also paid to acoustics and daylighting in the classrooms, which contributes to a pleasant learning environment.
This new building reflects the ambition to offer high-quality education in a modern and sustainable environment.
